BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 13. The association "Trans-Caspian International Transport Route" ("TITR") has announced tariff rates for container transportation of cargo on two sections of TITR in Kazakhstan, Trend reports.
"To attract additional transit cargo traffic from/to China, the working group on the development of TITR this week approved tariff rates for transportation of containers on the sites Dostyk-Aktau and Aktau-Dostyk'', the information noted.
The statement mentions that the distance between these two points is 3,095 kilometers, and the delivery time is 114 hours.
For 20-foot containers (TEU) on the route Dostyk-Aktau, the tariff is set at $0.31 per container per one kilometer of travel, and in the direction of Aktau-Dostyk, - $0.16 per container per one kilometer of travel.
For 40-foot containers, the tariffs are as follows: $0.40 per container per one kilometer of the way Dostyk-Aktau and $0.20 - in the opposite direction.
"The cost of transportation of containers from China on the territory of Kazakhstan includes the cost of using rolling stock," the statement also reads.
To note, Kazakhstan has agreed with China to transport ten 20-foot container trains per month.
Nearly 2.8 million tons of cargo passed through the TITR in 2023 (an 86 percent increase over 2022). More than 4 million tons are scheduled to be transported in 2024.
The TITR has been in operation for 10 years and is expected to increase transportation to 10 million tons per year by 2030.
The TITR runs from China through Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and on to Europe.
