BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 25. Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company CJSC (ASCO) considers it important to increase the fleet of tankers of the Volqa-Don Max type, which can follow the Volga-Don channel to the open sea and operate outside the Caspian basin with maximum loads, Trend reports via ASCO.
According to the company, Baku Shipyard should pay attention to the construction of such new-generation tankers.
"So far, there are three tankers of this type in our fleet - Lachin (operating since 2019), Kalbajar (since 2021), and Akademik Khoshbakht Yusifzade (operating since 2022). There should be more such vessels," the statement emphasized.
To note, these tankers, in particular, transport oil from third countries to SOCAR's refinery in Türkiye - STAR (the capacity of the enterprise is 12 million tons per year), guaranteeing to provide it with raw materials.
ASCO has a total of 52 vessels for various purposes on its balance sheet (the largest fleet on the Caspian Sea).
