BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 13. Baku Shipyard will put into operation two new vessels under construction by order of Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company CJSC (ASCO) in 2025, an informed source told Trend.
"In 2025, we plan to transfer two vessels that are currently under construction to the balance of ASCO. These are a RoPax-type ferry vessel and an oil tanker," the source emphasized.
To note, RoPax-type ferries are over 150 meters long and over 17 meters wide.
"The new tanker will have a carrying capacity of 8,000 tons, a length of over 140 meters, a width of 16.9 meters, a draft of 6 meters, and a speed of 10 knots per hour," the source added.
Furthermore, he reminded that in the second half of 2024, ASCO will receive the tanker Zangilan with the same characteristics.
The ASCO fleet consists of 55 vessels of different types and is the largest in the Caspian Sea.
Some of the vessels are used for SOCAR's operations.
