German company to build meat processing complex in Kazakhstan

German company "BaumanGmbh & COKG" will build a large meat processing complex in Kazakhstan.

The complex will cover areas of supplementary feeding, slaughter, deep processing, production of semi-finished products and finished products from sheep and goats.

The issues on implementation of the investment project was mulled at a meeting of Almaty region akim Amandyk Batalov with representatives of the German company headed by main shareholder Rainer Baumann Oct 23.

Batalov noted the importance of the project for development of the industry for processing of meat of sheep and goats.

"In our country there are almost 20 million sheep and goats and there is not a single processing enterprise, so it is very important that the project for the construction of the meat processing complex be successfully implemented," Batalov said.

Following the meeting, the parties, in particular Deputy Governor Serikzhan Beskempirov and Rainer Baumann signed a memorandum on fixing the directions for further bilateral cooperation.

BaumanGmbh & COKG is the largest producer of lamb meat products in Europe. Currently, it holds 25% of the lamb market in Germany and a significant share in the European market.

The total amount of the investment project, which is planned to be realized in the Almaty region, is 7.1 billion tenge. The capacity of the first stage of the project is 15,000 tons of meat per year, and the second - 30,000 tons.

The project will open up over 700 jobs. The planned timeframe for the implementation of the first stage is 2017-2018. The products will be sold both on the domestic market and exported.

The official exchange rate for October 24 is 336.05 KZT / USD.
