Vienna has witnessed the official opening of Kazakhstan's presidency in the OSCE Forum for Security Cooperation, Caspionet reported. Until the end of this year, Kazakhstan will be chairing one of the key bodies of this international organization, which deals with issues of the strengthening of military and political aspects of security.

The opening of the forum involved the Under-Secretary General of the UN, Director General of the UN Office in Geneva Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, Kazakh Defence Minister Adilbek Dzhaksybekov, officials of the OSCE, as well as representatives of diplomatic missions of all 56 states members of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. During the meeting with the OSCE Secretary General, Lamberto Zannier, Adilbek Dzhaksybekov said that Kazakhstan will be carrying out the chair's functions in the particular time for the military and political dimension of the OSCE activity. In the final declaration of the OSCE Summit in Astana, heads of states noted the necessity of the renovation and modernization of the verification mode of the armament, which remains the main instruments of insuring stability, transparency, and predictability in the military area.
