Kazakhstan, Russia discuss disarmament

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov and Deputy Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Kairat Umarov discussed current issues of disarmament during the consultations on the control over arms in Astana on Friday, Russian Foreign Ministry said.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov and Deputy Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Kairat Umarov discussed current issues of disarmament during the consultations on the control over arms in Astana on Friday, Russian Foreign Ministry said.

"The sides discussed issues of conventional arms in Europe, the International Arms Trade Treaty and nuclear disarmament", the report said.

Also during the meeting the sides discussed prospects for further deepening of interaction between the two countries within international regimes in the sphere of arms control and non-proliferation, as well as some other issues of mutual interest.

The next round of consultations on this subject will be held in Moscow in 2012.
