The Foreign Ministry of Kazakhstan intends to establish a Foreign Policy Council, Kazakh Foreign Minister Yerzhan Kazykhanov said in Astana on Tuesday addressing a meeting with Kazakh diplomatic missions' heads.

"At present, we are working on the establishment of the Foreign Policy Council under the aegis of the Foreign Ministry with the involvement of the scientific and academic circles, leading political scientists and experts," Kazykhanov said.

He explained that the Kazakh diplomats should apply qualitative new approaches in analytical work, focusing on forecasting and modelling the development of political processes in the world to develop the most appropriate, Kazakhstan's pragmatic conduct scenario with the leading players in the global arena.

"The Foreign Policy Council should be the alternative to the" expert arena" to improve the quality of analysis and study of new foreign policy initiatives," he stressed.

Kazykhanov also touched upon the issue of establishing a specialized agency "KazAID" to provide official development assistance.

"This issue will be worked out jointly with the country's government by involving the necessary forces and means," Kazykhanov said.
