Over 1,000 foreign observers to watch parliamentary elections in Kazakhstan

More than 1,000 foreign observers will be watching parliamentary elections in Kazakhstan, Kazakh Foreign Ministry’s official representative Altai Abibullayev said at a briefing on Monday.

More than 1,000 foreign observers will be watching parliamentary elections in Kazakhstan, Kazakh Foreign Ministry's official representative Altai Abibullayev said at a briefing on Monday. He said that more than 120 foreign journalists will arrive in Kazakhstan to cover the election results, and over 1,000 foreign observers will watch the elections in Kazakhstan.

Abibullayev said the elections in Kazakhstan will be observed by foreign observers from the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, PACE, the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, the CIS, Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking countries of the TurkPA, SCO, OIC, and independent observers from foreign states.

According to the Central Election Commission of Kazakhstan, so far 789 foreign observers have been accredited and the accreditation process continues.

Parliamentary elections in Kazakhstan are scheduled for Jan.15 2012.
