Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Massimov took part in the elections to the Majilis (lower chamber) and maslikhats (local representative body), the press office of the Prime Minister reported.

Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Massimov took part in the elections to the Majilis (lower chamber) and maslikhats (local representative body), the press office of the Prime Minister reported.

Masimov voted at a polling station No 2 in the city of Astana together with his wife and youngest daughter.

The elections to Majilis and maslikhats are held today in Kazakhstan. According to the Kazakhstan's Central Election Commission, some 16 percent of voters took part in the elections within the first 3 hours since its start. The preliminary election results will be announced on January 16.

The Nur Otan national-democratic party, Adilet, Kazakhstan Patriots' Party, Nationwide social-democratic party, Ak Zhol, Communist People's Party of Kazakhstan and the Kazakh Social Democratic Party Auyl are taking part in the elections.
