The new parliament will strengthen inter-parliamentary ties, the head of state Nursultan Nazarbayev said at the first joint meeting of the chambers at the opening of the new Kazakh parliament.
"The Parliament should strengthen inter-parliamentary ties, primarily, with states of the CIS, Common Economic Space and other friendly states," Mr Nazarbayev said.
He also noted representatives of the parties that joined the Parliament should unite round common ideas and work jointly.
"The Parliament consisting of representatives of the Kazakh People's Assembly and three parties face great tasks. Interests of the people, goals of the state should be above parties' courses. I'm sure that representatives of parties that joined the Parliament will unite round common ideas and will work jointly," the head of the state stressed.
