The Kazakh president has ordered to strengthen the fight against corruption and the "shadow" economy.

President Nursultan Nazarbayev has received Agency for Fighting Economic Crimes and Corruption Chairman Rashid Tusupbekov, the presidential press service said today.

During the meeting, he instructed the head of the financial police to strengthen the fight against corruption and the "shadow" economy.

Tusupbekov reported on the police's activity today.

Nazarbayev said the fight against corruption and economic crimes is the main task of the financial police. It is necessary to operate in this direction, he said.

"About 5,500 of the 8,000 revealed corruption cases are economic," he said. "Entrepreneurs must not have the problems if they work honestly."

Moreover, the president instructed the police to protect small and medium businesses.
