Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev met with German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle within his official visit to Germany, Kazakh President's press-service reported. During the meeting the parties discussed the cooperation between the EU and Kazakhstan.
Moreover, Nazarbayev and Westerwelle exchanged views on topical issues of international cooperation, such as the settlement of the situation in Afghanistan, terrorism and extremism fighting, nuclear proliferation and reforms applying in the UN.
According to Kazakh President Nazarbayev, the relations between the two countries are based on sincere friendship, mutual trust and practical cooperation.
Westerwelle, in turn, said Kazakhstan is an important political and economic partner of Germany in Central Asia.
Moreover, within the visit to Germany, Nazarbayev took part in the opening ceremony of the Berlin Eurasian Club.
Eurasian Club of Berlin will be a dialogue platform for discussing a wide range of social and political issues between Kazakhstan and Germany, as well as the EU. Club is the first Kazakh project of such kind in Europe. Its activity will be aimed at strengthening of the dialogue between European and Asian cultures.
