Astana hosted the fourth session of the Kazakh-Latvian intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation on Wednesday

Astana hosted the fourth session of the Kazakh-Latvian intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation on Wednesday, Kazakh Foreign Ministry reported.

The meeting was chaired by Executive Secretary of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry Rapil Zhoshybayev and State Secretary of the Latvian Economy Ministry Juris Puce.

Within the session, the parties discussed the prospective areas of bilateral cooperation in transport and transit spheres, tourism, information technology, agriculture, education, science, health and civil service.

The third session of the Kazakh-Latvian intergovernmental commission took place in Riga on April 22, 2010.

The trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Latvia hit $228.6 million in 2011 compared to $201.5 million in 2010 and $141 million in 2009.
