On Monday in Astana the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Kazykhanov met with the Assistant Secretary General on policy and program activities and at the same time Deputy Executive Director of the "UN-Women" John Hendra.
During the conversation Kazykhanov noted that in Kazakhstan from year to year a growing number of women participates in politics and business. And the achievements of Kazakhstan and the development of cooperation with the United Nations allow the government to move to a new level of cooperation is gradually transformed from the category of recipients in the category of donors.
According to him, the government is currently considering the establishment of the Kazakhstan Agency for Development Assistance in other countries "KazAid". Along with this, we plan to establish a major regional center for multilateral cooperation in the UN Almaty - a city that meets the criteria and requirements of the UN and is convenient for the full functioning of the offices of the UN system.
Noting that the opening of regional offices of "UN-Women" is important not only for Kazakhstan, but also for all the countries of Central Asia and Afghanistan, Kazykhanov expressed willingness to meet all requirements.
"We believe that the establishment of the center of multilateral diplomacy will contribute to the further implementation of the program documents of the United Nations at the regional level and the integration of Central Asia into the global economy" - said the foreign minister of Kazakhstan.
The sides also discussed the implementation of United Nations Special Programme for Economies of Central Asia (SPECA), under which States Parties established a working group on "gender and entrepreneurship." Kazykhanov emphasized the importance of involving the Government of Afghanistan to intensify the work group and the format of the participation of women in Afghanistan.
