Kazakhstan, NATO mull cooperation

Chairman of the Kazakh Senate Kairat Mami has held the talks with NATO Parliamentary Assembly Chairman Karl Lamers, the Senate said today. The sides have discussed the issues of further development of the cooperation between the Kazakh Parliament and NATO PA.

Chairman of the Kazakh Senate Kairat Mami has held the talks with NATO Parliamentary Assembly Chairman Karl Lamers, the Senate said today. The sides have discussed the issues of further development of the cooperation between the Kazakh Parliament and NATO PA.

"Our country attaches great importance to the development of multidimensional and multifaceted cooperation with NATO," Mami said.

The sides have also exchanged the views on strengthening security in Central Asia, the activity of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan.

Lamers has appreciated Kazakhstan's contribution to the international efforts to restore Afghanistan and stressed the country's role in promoting stability and security in the region.

Kazakh parliamentary delegation has the status of "observer" and constantly participates in the annual sessions of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and the activities of the alliance.
