Kazakhstan, Astana, Oct. 17 / Trend D. Mukhtarov /
The parliament will receive the new bill "On the State Border" for consideration soon, a source in the Kazakh border service told Trend today.
The Kazakh border service was the initiator of the new law. The new law will be used to strengthen the national security.
According to the official data, border guards prevented 11,760 offenses at the Kazakh border only for the first 9 months of this year. More than 19,000 were arrested and prosecuted upon various articles of the Criminal Code of the country. More than 1,000 smuggling cases at the border were prevented. Around 645 tons of various goods worth more than 495.3 million tenge were withdrawn.
Poaching remains one of the most urgent problems for border guards, particularly in the Caspian region. However, Kazakh body guards together with Russian and Azerbaijani colleagues could significantly limit the poaching activity in the Caspian Sea.
