Some $26.000 to be paid to families of plane crash in Kazakhstan

SCAT Airlines will provide assistance to the families of those killed in the plane crash near Almaty to the tune of three million tenge, and one million tenge through akimats (total of $ 26,517), Central Communications Service under Kazakh President said on Wednesday.

According to information, forensic examination of bodies of the victims was held by an operative group including experts of the Centre of Forensic Medicine under Health Ministry. Causes of death were ascertained and all bodies are currently prepared for recognition.

Airborne recorders were sent for examination to the Interstate Aviation Committee.

On January 29, 2013, at about 13:00, a Challenger-200 aircraft of SCAT Airline, flight No.760 on route from Kokshetau to Almaty crashed five kilometers short of the runway at Almaty.
According to preliminary information, the accident was caused by thick fog.

A criminal case has been initiated surrounding the crash. A special government commission will hold the investigation. Some 21 people were killed in the accident.
