Auto insurance rates at the entrance to the territory of Russia and Kazakhstan will be equalized in 2015, the chairman of the Competition Protection Agency, Galim Orazbakov said.
"We, as being the official body, appealed to the National Bank of Kazakhstan on the necessity to equalize the rates for car insurance between Russia and Kazakhstan," he said.
When Kazakhstan's car enters the Russian territory, it should pay 7,000 tenge ($ 1 - 182.01 tenge), and when the Russian car enters the territory of Kazakhstan, it pays 900 tenge, according to Orazbakov.
"The difference is crucial. Today the issue of equalization of tariffs with the association of financiers is being worked out. It is planned to officially submit the Eurasian economic Commission a proposal to equalize the rate," the agency chairman said.
The issue is likely to be resolved by 2015.
"Either Kazakhstan will reduce or Russia will have to raise the tariffs," he added.
