Eight injured in blast at mill in Kazakh Semei

A blast at the in Semipalatinsk Flour and Feed Mill in the Kazakh city of Semei injured eight people, Kazinform reported on May 14 referring to regional department of the Emergency Ministry.
Six people with burns were hospitalized, meanwhile two others refused hospitalization.
The dust explosion occurred during welding works on the 4th floor of the feed production tower and provoked the fire. Violation of fire safety rules during welding is the cause of the explosion, according to preliminary data.
There were 2,492 tonnes of grain in the tower's silos when the blast occurred.
Some 11 pieces of equipment and 52 rescuers from the national fire and rescue service are working on the scene.
