China is ready to expand strategic cooperation with Kazakhstan in the field of defense, Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang said at the meeting with Kazakh Minister of Defense Serik Akhmetov Sept. 23, the Kazakh Ministry of Defense said.

"China is willing to expand strategic cooperation with Kazakhstan in all areas of the inter-state relations, including the military and military-technical areas," Keqiang said.

The sides discussed further strengthening of the bilateral strategic cooperation, including the military and military-technical areas, at the meeting in China, the statement says.

Akhmetov said that Kazakhstan and China have strong and long-term partnership, based on the warm and friendly relations between the two leaders.

"An important area of cooperation is the partnership between the defense ministries of the two countries," Akhmetov said.
