Kazakhstan reveals 11M2020 data on meat production

Baku, Azerbaijan, Jan.15

Trend:

The volume of meat production (excluding poultry meat) from January through November 2020 in Kazakhstan exceeded 435,000 tons, which is 3.2 percent more than in the same period in 2019, Trend reports referring to the Ministry of Agriculture.

Besides, according to the ministry, the production of sausages grew by almost 12 percent (from 48,000 to 53,800 tons) and canned meat - by 13.8 percent (from 7,700 to 8,800 tons).

The ministry said that revenues from beef exports in the first 10 months of 2020 amounted to $26.4 million.

As reported, the growth in the production of domestic finished goods was due to an increase in state support for animal husbandry and meat processing. Moreover, the moratorium on the export of livestock, introduced by the ministry last year, provided additional loading of the processing enterprises' capacities, allowing not only to stop the mass export of animals, but also, through the instructions of the country’s president, to increase the production of finished products.

Within the framework of the 2017-2021 State Program for Development of Agro-Industrial Complex the following types of state support for meat processors are provided:

1) Reimbursement of part of the costs (up to 25 percent) for investments in the modernization of existing and construction of new plants;

2) Subsidizing the interest rate on loans for working and fixed assets;

3) Concessional lending under the ‘Economy of Simple Things’ program, including producers of beef and poultry meat.

In addition, the ministry introduced measures to subsidize farmers in the delivery of bull calves for slaughter. Livestock breeders receive an additional state benefit worth 200 tenge (48 cents) per kilogram of live weight.
