Kazakhstan approves National Development Plan until 2025

The National Development Plan of Kazakhstan until 2025 was approved in accordance with the decree of President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Trend reports referring to Kazinform news agency.

The main tasks and parameters of the country's new economic course have been determined in the National Development Plan of the country until 2025.

The document reflects a strategic vision for the development of the most important sectors, guidelines for improving key policies aimed at leveling the consequences of the coronavirus crisis and ensuring sustainable, inclusive and high-quality economic development in terms of the new economic reality and current global trends.

This document was developed upon the instructions of President Tokayev by the Ministry of National Economy together with the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms.

The plan lays the foundation for fundamental institutional and sectoral reforms aimed at improving the quality of life and well-being of the population.

An integral part of the National Plan is a detailed map of specific strategic indicators.

The specific measures will be taken to form a new structure of the economy through increasing its self-sufficiency, diversification, targeted investment attraction, active export promotion, support and comprehensive development of private entrepreneurship to achieve the specific strategic indicators.

Particular attention will be paid to improving the services in the field of health and education, developing infrastructure, productive employment and increasing social well-being of the population.

The president also signed the decree "On National Priorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan until 2025", which is a new instrument of the State Planning System.

The national priorities include 10 specific objectives in three key spheres, namely, well-being of citizens, quality of institutions, and building the strong economy.

The issue is ten spheres in which reforms are expected to be carried out in the near future, namely, a fair social policy, an affordable and effective health care system, quality education, a fair and effective state protecting the interests of citizens, a new model of public administration, cultivating the values of patriotism, strengthening national security, building a diversified innovative economy, active development of economic and trade diplomacy and balanced territorial development.

All indicators of the National Development Plan and national priorities determine the key spheres of work of the entire state structure.

The implementation of these strategic documents is aimed at overcoming the challenges of the current stage and, in the medium term, is designed to ensure the country’s achievement of sustainable and high-quality economic growth, accompanied by a real increase in the quality of life and income of the population.

Kazakh Prime Minister Askar Mamin stressed at an expanded meeting of the government of the Republic of Kazakhstan on January 26, 2021 that the National Development Plan until 2025 will be a key medium-term benchmark in the work of the government to improve the social well-being of the population through ensuring sustainable and high-quality economic growth.

Taking into account the set strategic tasks, the Government has determined seven main spheres for 2021, envisaging an increase in the self-sufficiency of the economy, attracting of high-quality investments, development of entrepreneurship, infrastructure, high-quality digitalization, an increase in income of the population and providing people with jobs, as well as development of competitive human capital.
