The Kazakhstani PTC Cargo transport and forwarding company has organized the transportation of more than 200 international trains in 11,000 large-tonnage containers, Trend reports citing Kazakh media.

According to the information, Dostyk Trans Terminal has been operating on the border with China (Dostyk-Alashankou border crossing) for a little more than two months for transshipment of goods and containers from the 1,435-millimeter track to the 1,520-millimeter track.

From the moment of its opening to the territory of Kazakhstan from China, on average three more container trains are received, processed, and dispatched daily than before. In the near future, this figure will increase to six container trains per day. And from 2022, Dostyk Trans Terminal will be ready to form and dispatch up to 12 container trains.

“This means that the freight traffic in the direction of China-Europe-China through Kazakhstan will grow significantly. This is a significant contribution to the development of the country's transit potential, which has been discussed for many years at the state level,” the message says.

The managing company of the cargo transshipment terminal is Kazakh PTC Cargo transport-forwarding company. Since June 4, it has organized the transportation of more than 200 international trains comprising 11,000 large containers. The main directions of cargo are China-Europe-China, China-Central Asian countries, China-Russia.

"70 percent of the container flow between China and Europe passes through Dostyk station. Most of the cargo is accepted by the Dostyk Trans Terminal container site. Increasing the transit potential of Kazakhstan is one of the country's strategic objectives, and we are doing everything possible to realize it as much as possible," the general director of PTC Cargo Shyngys Tuleushin said.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic and quarantine, the volume of transit container traffic in Kazakhstan is growing, at the end of last year - by 65 percent, amounting to 517,500 containers.
