Kazakhstan reveals data on latest grain harvesting activities

Over 49 percent of the area of grain and leguminous crops have been harvested in Kazakhstan, Trend reports citing Kazakh media.

The total sown area of agricultural crops for 2021 amounted to 23 million hectares, which is 322,000 hectares more compared to 2020.

The grain and leguminous crops are planted on an area of 16.1 million hectares (including wheat - 12.9 million hectares), oilseeds - 3.1 million hectares, vegetables and melons and potatoes – 473,800 hectares, cotton – 109,700 hectares, sugar beet – 21,700 hectares, forage crops - 3.2 million hectares.

The harvesting campaign in the current year has begun in a timely manner and to date, 7.9 million hectares of grain and leguminous crops have been harvested in the country, or 49.4 percent of their total harvesting area.

In total, there are 141,700 tractors, 73,500 tractor-trailers, 36,900 grain harvesters, 12,800 headers for harvesting operations in Kazakhstan.

Reportedly, 396,500 tons of preferential diesel fuel were allocated for the timely implementation of harvesting work of agricultural production plant. Together with the Ministry of Energy, a schedule was approved for assigning regional operators to refineries. As of September 2, 2021, according to the schedule, with the plan for July-October 396,500 tons, 173,400 tons (44 percent) were shipped.

The Ministry of Energy has set a price of 156 tenge (36 cents) per liter (189,000 tenge or $444.6 per ton) from the refinery, taking into account the delivery of operators, the average price in the regions is 177 tenge (41 cents) per liter, which is 11 percent cheaper than the market price (gas station - 198 tenge (46 cents per liter).

The total grain storage capacity in the country is 28.8 million tons, including 12 million tons at grain-receiving enterprises, and 16.8 million tons - at agricultural manufacturers. The specified storage capacity is sufficient to store a new crop, taking into account the carry-overs from previous years.
