Astana International Financial Center allowed into Kazakhstan's financial market

Kazakhstan’s National Bank, the Agency for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market and the Astana International Financial Center (AIFC) have reached an agreement on currency regulation and conditions for access of AIFC participants to the financial market of the country, Trend reports citing the National Bank.

The document was signed by the Bank’s Chairman Yerbolat Dosayev, Chairperson of the Agency Madina Abylkasymova and Governor of the Astana International Financial Center Kairat Kelimbetov.

The rules of foreign exchange regulation establish the conditions and procedures for conducting foreign exchange transactions on the territory of the AIFC, issues of providing financial services by the AIFC participants and their access to the financial infrastructure of Kazakhstan.

The rules determine the list of financial services that AIFC participants will be able to provide to residents of Kazakhstan, including in the banking and insurance sectors, as well as in the securities market.

The act will take effect on December 1, 2021.
