National Bank of Kazakhstan discloses district with biggest annual inflation rate

Head of the Real Sector Monitoring Sector of the Monetary Policy Department of the National Bank of Kazakhstan Igor Osipov spoke about the analysis of inflation rate in the country in 2022, Trend reports with reference to the National Bank.

“The annual inflation rate accelerated in the country in January 2022, amounting to 8.5 percent (8.4 percent in December 2021),” Osipov said. “As for districts, annual inflation rate accelerated in 10 districts, slowed down in five districts and remained unchanged in two districts.”

Osipov added that the biggest acceleration was observed in Aktobe district (from 8.7 percent in December 2021 to 9.2 percent in January 2022), the slowdown was observed in Mangistau district (from 9.2 percent to 8.7 percent) and Nur-Sultan city (from 8.8 percent to 8.3 percent).

He said that the growth rate of food prices in January remained at the same level - 9.9 percent, which was the same as a month earlier. The maximum increase in prices for goods of this group was 11.7 percent in Akmola district.

“The rise in prices for non-food products remained at the level of 8.5 percent,” Osipov said. “The maximum rates were observed in Akmola and Aktobe districts (10.2 percent each), the lowest one - in Mangistau district (7.1 percent).”
