BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 26. Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has resigned from the position of a chairman of the AMANAT party, Trend reports citing Kazakh media.
“I have previously said that I will resign from the post of chairman of the party and leave the ranks of the organization. The time has come to carry out this command," the president said.
Tokayev explained that being the head of the AMANAT party he decided to terminate his powers and leave the party.
"This step is symbolic. In this regard, I would like to thank all of you for your trust and support in the presidential elections. I also express my gratitude for the fact that you have entrusted the reins of government to the party,” Tokayev said, speaking at the extraordinary XXIII Congress of the AMANAT party.
