BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 7. The area of cultivated land in the North Kazakhstan Region has been published, Trend reports citing Kazinform.

This year, the total sown area of the region will be 4.3 million hectares. Including 3 million hectares of cereals and legumes and about 1 million hectares of oilseeds. The area of socially significant buckwheat will amount to 10,000 hectares. Lentils will occupy more than 50,000 hectares, and sunflowers – more than 103,000 hectares.

At the same time, 170,000 tons of mineral fertilizers are planned to be used for 2.7 million hectares of cultivated land.

The current sowing campaign will involve 12,900 tractors, 15,100-grain seeders and 1,400 modern sowing complexes.

Furthermore, 702 units of agricultural machinery worth 16 billion tenge ($37.4 million) were purchased this year.

The main types of agricultural crops grown on the territory of Kazakhstan are wheat, rice, buckwheat, sugar beet, fodder, vegetable, melon, fruit and berry crops.
