BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 23. Emissions are planned to be reduced at the 16 largest industrial enterprises of Kazakhstan, Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources Serikkali Brekeshev said at an expanded government meeting, Trend reports.
"As part of the task to improve the quality of atmospheric air, it’s planned to reduce the emissions by 20 percent over five years in 10 large cities," Brekeshev noted.
"In 2021, 16 enterprises actually released 655,000 tons of pollutants into the atmosphere, which is three percent lower than in 2020 with a limit of 803,800 tons. For six months of this year, the emissions of enterprises amounted to 293,200 tons, which is 6.7 percent lower than the same period in 2021," the minister reminded.
"This indicator was achieved through environmental protection measures and improved equipment reliability. For this aim, the enterprises themselves allocated 15.4 billion tenge ($32 million)," he added.
