BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 6. Kazakhstan launched the construction of a chemical plant in Turkestan region worth around 122.85 billion Kazakh tenge (nearly $262 million), Trend reports, citing the press service of Turkestan region’s municipality.

The construction is expected to wrap up by June 2024.

Upon completion, 100,000 tons of sodium hydroxide, 120,000 tons of polyvinyl chloride and 1 million tons of concrete are expected to be produced at the plant.

According to the statement, the commissioning of the plant will create around 1,000 job opportunities.

The municipality head, Darkhan Satybaldy, said that the project is being funded by an unnamed private investor. He also highlighted the importance of further industrial development of the region.
