BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 19. Agriculture production worth 23 billion Kazakh tenge ($49.4 million) was produced in Kazakhstan’s Atyrau and suburban villages, Ruslan Dauletov, Head of Atyrau City Department of Entrepreneurship and Agriculture, said, Trend reports, citing Kazakh media.

According to the Atyrau official, some 2,588 hectares of land were planted in suburban villages last year.

Dauletov added that there is also a positive trend in animal husbandry. Some 7,309 cattle, 5,632 sheep and goats, 3,028 horses, 1,964 camels, and 6,174 birds are registered in Atyrau.

“The number of cattle increased by 4.7 percent, horses by 22.1 percent, camels by 8.6 percent, and birds - by 0.5 percent compared to 2021”, Dauletov noted.

Kazakhstan increased its efforts to promote the growth of the agriculture sector since 2022. Due to inflationary pressure, food product prices have increased, and the government looks to balance rising prices with increasing supply. Additionally, the government will introduce changes in 2023, which will be aimed at reducing food prices, such as removing uncooperative intermediaries.
