BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 27. Anglo-Russian Polymetal looks at the possibility of opening a hydrometallurgical plant in Kazakhstan’s Pavlodar, Vitaliy Nesis, the Polymetal CEO, said, Trend reports, citing Kazakh media.

Nesis noted that opening a plant at this location is based on economic feasibility.

“We chose a site near the city of Pavlodar in Northern Kazakhstan. The main criteria that guided us in choosing it were infrastructure security, the availability of cheap electricity, and the optimal level of aridity - not too dry and not too wet”, Nesis said.

The company produced 1.71 million ounces of gold equivalent in 2022, which is a 2 percent increase compared to 2021. The company operates at seven Russian fields and two in Kazakhstan.

Polymetal International PLC is an Anglo-Russian precious mining company registered in Saint Helier, Jersey. It is listed on the London Stock Exchange and Moscow Exchange.
