BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 3. Import prices for the Kazakh long-flame coal and brown coal increased in Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, Trend reports, citing the report from Argus media company.

According to the report, the price for the Kazakh long-flame coal (D grade) with a calorific value exceeding 5600 kcal/kg in Kyrgyzstan changed in the range of 5,200-5,600 Kyrgyz soms per ton ($60.31- $64.95) in 4Q2022, excluding VAT and shipping costs.

This constitutes an increase of 10.2 percent compared to prices recorded during the summer months.

Meanwhile, the price of Kazakh long-flame coal (D grade) with a calorific value ranging from 5,000 to 5,600 kcal/kilogram fluctuated between $33 and $35 per ton, which is an increase of $1 per ton.

The volume of Kazakh coal exports to Kyrgyzstan decreased by 211,000 tons in 2022 and amounted to 928,000 tons.

At the same time, the volume of Kazakh coal export to Uzbekistan increased by 474,000 tons and reached 1.63 million tons. This is an equivalent to an increase of 40.8 percent.

The price for the brown coal (3b grade) with a calorific equaling 4,400 kcal/kg in Uzbekistan ranged between $45 and $50 per ton.

Earlier, Kazakhstan imposed a ban on coal exports via road vehicles. The limitation was placed to curb price growth and to prioritize domestic supply. The export moratorium started on 19 September 2022 and will run through 19 March 2023.
