BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 11. Kazakhstan’s national railway operator “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy” (KTZ) and Abu Dhabi Ports Group discussed the perspectives of joint cooperation in the framework of The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), Trend reports, citing the press service of KTZ.

Some of the concrete issues reviewed during the meeting included the expansion of port infrastructure on the Caspian Sea, the creation of trade hubs in Astana, Aktobe and Almaty.

The sides also expressed interest in developing cooperation in the International North–South Transport Corridor by integrating the ports of Abu Dhabi.

Abu Dhabi Ports Group increased its interest in expanding its operations to Kazakhstan in the last few months. The catalyst for the expansion was the visit of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to the United Arab Emirates.

In the framework of the visit, Abu Dhabi Ports Group signed an agreement on strategic cooperation with Kazakh state oil and gas company, KazMunayGas.
