BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 18. Kazakhstan and the UK have signed memorandums on strategic partnership in the field of the development of clean hydrogen and the most important mineral raw materials, Trend reports via Kazakh media.

The documents were signed during the meeting between James Cleverly, UK Foreign Secretary, and Alikhan Smailov, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan.

"The Government of Kazakhstan is determined to further deepen cooperation with the UK in all areas. In this context, an important step will be the adoption of the Kazakh-UK Agreement on strategic partnership and cooperation, the development of which is in the final stage," Smailov said.

He added that as part of the expansion of mutual trade, Kazakhstan is ready to increase exports of products to the UK for more than 100 commodity items worth about $800 million.

At the same time, the implementation of joint projects for the production of green hydrogen is of high interest, as well as the cooperation on the further development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route.

Cleverley stressed that Kazakhstan is one of the most important trading partners of the UK in Central Asia, and outlined the readiness of the country to strengthen cooperation in all mutually beneficial areas.

Meanwhile, the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and the UK in 2022 totaled $1.8 billion, which is an increase of 58.7 percent year-on-year.
