BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 27. The volume of Kazakhstan's industrial output increased by 1.6 percent year-over-year in February 2023, Trend reports, citing the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB).
The most significant increase was registered in machinery manufacturing - 31.5 percent. The output of the food industry increased by 9.6 percent year-over-year, while the production of coke and refined petroleum production increased by 5.4 percent.
The EBD analysts also highlight the increase in electric energy production, which equaled 4.6 percent year on year. The increase is attributed to the particularly harsh weather conditions observed during the winter.
The mining industry also recorded a growth of 0.5 percent in February 2023. The modest growth was attributed to the increase in gas, iron ore, and natural resource extraction.
On the other end of the spectrum, a decrease in metallurgy sector production limited the overall industrial growth of Kazakhstan. The drop in this sector reached 11.3 percent in year-over-year terms.
Earlier, it was reported that the volume of industrial production of Kazakh enterprises amounted to 7.13 trillion Kazakh tenge ($15.35 billion) from January through February 2023. The January output reached 3.65 trillion Kazakh tenge ($8.22 billion), while the output in February amounted to 3.48 trillion Kazakh tenge ($7.5 billion).
