BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 8. The Industrial Production Index (IPI) stood at 102.8 percent in Kazakhstan from January through February 2023, Trend reports via Kazakhstan's Bureau of National Statistics.
In the mining and quarrying industry, the IPI from January through March 2023 was 100.2 percent compared to the same period in the previous year. This growth is attributed to an increase in the production of crude oil (100.7 percent), natural gas (101.2 percent), ores other than iron (104.3 percent), and other minerals (122.7 percent).
The IPI in the manufacturing industry during the reporting period was 105.4 percent compared to the same period in 2022, due to the growth observed in the production of various goods in the manufacturing industry.
In particular, there was an increase in food production by 8.1 percent, beverages by 12.5 percent, refined petroleum products by 4 percent, basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceuticals by 8.1 percent, rubber, and plastic products by 13.5 percent, finished metal products (excluding machinery and equipment) by 14.6 percent, and mechanical engineering by 35.3 percent.
The IPI in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water, and conditioned air in the reporting period amounted to 106.1 percent, mainly attributed to a surge in the production and distribution of gaseous fuel through pipelines by 38.1 percent, as well as an increase in the supply of steam, hot water, and conditioned air by 6.2 percent.
In water supply, waste collection, processing, disposal, and pollution control activities, the IPI in the reporting period amounted to 106.7 percent. Volumes of wastewater collection and treatment increased by 8.1 percent, and pollution control activities and other waste disposal services increased by 3.1 times.
Overall, an increase in production volumes was recorded in 14 regions of the country.
