BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 10. Kazakhstan has the potential to not simply double or triple the agrochemical industry but to increase it tenfold, Kazakhstan's Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development Marat Karabayev said on the sidelines of the Ondeu Expo international industrial exhibition taking place in Astana, Trend reports via the Kazakh media.
"Special attention should be paid to the chemistry. Currently, the agrochemical industry is our main focus. Kazakhstan produces basic agrochemical products such as phosphorus fertilizers for plants and yellow phosphorus at Kazphosphate LLP. Nitrogen fertilizers are produced by KazAzot JSC with a capacity of 400,000 tons in the Magnistau region," he said.
According to the minister, Kazakhstan meets its own demands and even enters export markets. Karabayev also said that Kazakhstan's agrochemical industry potential can increase tenfold, and large-scale projects are currently underway in this direction.
"We are currently working on potash deposits in the West Kazakhstan region. We believe that we should only limit ourselves to basic agrochemical products: we need to move on to more complex mineral fertilizers," the minister said.
The minister added that for this purpose, two large projects are underway in the Zhambyl region with the participation of Swiss EuroChem and Kazphosphate.
The Ondeu Expo international industrial exhibition kicked off today in the Astana EXPO center. The major three-day event was organized by the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of Kazakhstan and the Union of Machine Builders of Kazakhstan.
