BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 15. Stadler, the Swiss manufacturer of railway rolling stock, has confirmed purchasing the Tulpar factory in Kazakhstan, Head of Group Communications at Stadler, Gerda Königstorfer told Trend.

"We confirm that Stadler has bought the factory. The acquisition of the Tulpar factory was a requirement under the tender for the delivery of sleeping coaches. Stadler won this tender in 2021," she said.

According to her, the negotiations were then proceeding with Stadler's first contract in Kazakhstan which was signed at the beginning of this year.

"At the beginning of the year, Stadler signed a long-term contract with Federal Railways of Kazakhstan (KTZ) for the supply of 537 sleeper and couchette coaches, including a 20-year full-service contract. The contract also includes the transfer of technology from Switzerland to Kazakhstan and the acquisition of a local production facility in Astana, as mentioned," she said.

She also added that thanks to its innovative products and expertise, Stadler can help take public transport in Kazakhstan to the next level.

As the head of communications noted, Stadler’s first contract in Kazakhstan lets the company enter a new market and expand its geographical presence in the CIS [Commonwealth of Independent States].

In terms of future projects in Kazakhstan and other Central Asian countries, the company's representative noted that Stadler is open to new opportunities.
