BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 24. The refineries of KazMunayGas, Kazakhstan's national company, are ready to produce Jet A-1 aviation fuel, Chairman of the Board of KazMunayGas, Magzum Myrzagaliev said during the 1st Kazakhstan Aviation Talks forum, Trend reports.
Myrzagaliev emphasized the significant advantages of Jet A-1 fuel, including its low fire and explosion risks, minimal emissions of waste gases into the atmosphere, and extended maintenance cycles for aircraft engines.
The introduction of this fuel is expected to stimulate the growth of fueling infrastructure at airports across Kazakhstan, meeting international safety and service quality standards in the domestic aviation industry. However, a complete transition to this aviation fuel requires comprehensive infrastructure preparations along the entire supply chain, from refineries to aircraft wings, with accreditation aligning with international standards.
Furthermore, the chairman of the board also noted that the expansion of the capacity of the Shymkent Oil Refinery will make it possible to increase the production of jet fuel three times, up to 1 million tons per year.
Last year, KazMunayGas reached a maximum production volume of 666,000 tons of jet oil with domestic consumption of 829,000 tons. Despite the anticipated increase in jet oil production volumes, it is expected that domestic demand will continue to exceed production capacity, resulting in a continued reliance on imports.
