Oil, gas production in Kazakhstan increases

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 14. The mining industry in Kazakhstan has experienced a 1.3 percent increase in production volume from January through May 2023 compared to the same period last year, the country's Minister of National Economy Alibek Kuantyrov said at a Government meeting, Trend reports.

According to him, notable growth was observed in oil production (2.4 percent), natural gas by 1.3 percent, and other valuable minerals by a significant 20 percent. However, there has been a slight decline in the extraction of metal ores by 0.5 percent, mining services by 7.3 percent, and coal production by 8.5 percent.

On the other hand, the manufacturing sector continues to show positive growth, with a 3.3 percent increase in production volume. Fifteen regions of Kazakhstan have recorded this positive growth, particularly notable in the city of Almaty, Kostanay, North Kazakhstan regions, and the Abai region.

In terms of manufacturing industry sectors, the production of machinery has seen a growth of 31.9 percent, including a substantial increase in automobile manufacturing by 40.8 percent and electrical equipment production by 37.8 percent.

Moreover, growth has been observed in the following sectors: food production by 6.5 percent, petroleum refining products by 3 percent, construction materials by 4.1 percent, beverages by 5.8 percent, plastic products by 7.7 percent, and light industry by an impressive 31.1 percent.
