Kazakhstan's AIFC attracts investments exceeding $8.3B since launch

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 15. Astana International Financial Center (AIFC) has attracted investments in Kazakhstan in the amount of more than $8.3 billion since its launch, said Manager of the AIFC Renat Bekturov while being received by Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Trend reports.

During this meeting, he briefed the president on the work of the center as part of the implementation of its Development Strategy until 2025 in three directions: assistance in attracting foreign investments, development of a dynamic capital market and promotion of innovations in the financial industry.

It was noted that in recent years, there has been an increase in the number of AIFC participants. Thus, about 2,000 companies from 75 countries have chosen the AIFC jurisdiction to conduct business.

In addition, the managed said that the world's largest financial institutions, including Chinese banks, Arab financial structures and renowned technology companies are actively opening their representative offices on the basis of the AIFC. In general, since its establishment, the participants of the AIFC ecosystem have paid taxes totaling more than 50 billion Kazakh tenge ($111.3 million), with 26 billion Kazakh tenge ($57.8 million) paid in 2022 alone.

Furthermore, it was noted that the resolution institutes within the AIFC (the AIFC Court and the International Arbitration Center) have reviewed more than 2,000 commercial and financial cases.

In conclusion, Tokayev stressed the need to actively promote the AIFC in the international arena as one of the country's main investment platforms.
