Kazakhstan, Poland note sharp rise in bilateral trade

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 18. The bilateral trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Poland reached $1.4 billion in 2022, which is 80 percent more year-on-year, Trend reports.

This was noted during the 9th session of the Kazakh-Polish Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation held under the chairmanship of Grzegorz Piechowiak, Secretary of State in the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology of Poland and Roman Vasilenko, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.

Furthermore, it was also noted at the session that the trade turnover between the countries from January through April 2023 amounted to $430 million.

Highlighting Kazakhstan's role as Poland's leading partner in Central Asia, Grzegorz Piechowiak emphasized Poland's commitment to further expanding trade and economic cooperation with Kazakhstan.

In turn, Vasilenko provided an overview of the state's support mechanisms for foreign investors. He noted that in 2022, Kazakhstan attracted a total of $28 billion in foreign direct investments from various international partners, setting a record for the past decade. Poland's investment in Kazakhstan amounted to $75 million in 2022 and $350 million since 2005. More than 100 companies with Polish participation, including Polpharma and Selena, operate in Kazakhstan.

Following the session, a number of documents were signed, including a Memorandum of Understanding for the construction of two fish feed production plants in Kazakhstan.
