BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 22. Kazakhstan's maritime transport handled 483,600 tons of cargo from January through May 2023, Trend reports.
According to the country's Bureau of National Statistics, this figure is 6.9 percent more compared to the same period of the previous year.
However, the overall cargo turnover has experienced a slight decline, amounting to 288.7 million metric ton-kilometers, representing a decrease of 6.2 percent compared to January through May 2022.
Meanwhile, a total of 391.7 million tons of cargo were transported by all modes of transport in Kazakhstan from January through May 2023, which is 1.9 percent more compared to the same period last year.
Additionally, passenger transportation displayed significant progress, with 639.8 million passengers carried, marking an increase of 11.9 percent compared to the previous year. The passenger turnover reached 22.6 billion passenger kilometers, showing substantial growth of 17.1 percent.
