Kazakhstan talks construction of new CHPs, more renewable energy projects

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 29. Kazakhstan is considering the construction of combined heat and power plants in Kokshetau and Semey regions, Alikhan Smailov, Prime Minister of the country, said at the AMANAT party meeting, Trend reports.

"In the field of power engineering, new projects are being implemented in several regions. This year, the modernization of power plants with a capacity of over 600 MW will be completed. Projects for gas generation with a total capacity of over 2.3 GW will be launched in Almaty and Turkestan in 2025-2026," he said.

The Prime Minister also noted that the construction of a new combined heat and power plant has started in Kyzylorda.

"Additionally, 10 renewable energy projects with a total capacity of 276 MW will be implemented this year," Smailov added.
