ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 6. Repair work on the power unit of Kazakhstan's Mangystau Nuclear Power Plant (MAEK LLP), which was shut down in an emergency on Monday, has been completed ahead of schedule, Trend reports.
According to the company, round-the-clock work was carried out by the staff of the thermal power plant. The repair was started on July 4, as it took a while to cool down the boiler of the power unit.
"The employees of the energy enterprise were initially aimed at carrying out repair work on the boiler of the power unit as soon as possible. Due to the correct and prompt work of the MAEK LLP specialists, serious damage to the power unit equipment was prevented in a timely manner. This ensured uninterrupted power to consumers in the region," said the company.
On July 3, 2023, a disruption in the power supply occurred at the thermal power plant of MAEK LLP, which led to instability and disturbances in the power system of western Kazakhstan with massive power outages in the region. Because of this outrage, several oil companies in Kazakhstan, such as subsidiaries of KazMunayGas national company and oil pumping stations of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium faced difficulties and were forced to halt operations.
Due to this emergency situation, Kazakhstan's government decided to allocate 4.9 billion Kazakh tenge ($10.9 million) for the modernization of equipment at the thermal power plant.
