ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 24. A total of 16,677 residential buildings were commissioned in Kazakhstan in the first half of this year, Trend reports.
According to the country's Bureau of National Statistics, out of the total number of residential buildings, there were 16,083 individual houses, 574 multi-story buildings, and 20 dormitories.
The multi-story buildings accounted for 63,100 apartments, showing a 15.1-percent increase compared to the previous year. Among these, 7.6 percent of the buildings were built by state-owned construction companies, 91.2 percent by private entities, and 1.2 percent backed by foreign investors.
Overall, more than 7.1 million square meters of housing have been put into operation in Kazakhstan, marking an 11.3 percent increase compared to the same period in 2022.
Among the regions, the Abai region leads in terms of the area of newly introduced housing with a remarkable growth rate of 56.3 percent. It is followed by Shymkent with a growth rate of 43.4 percent and Zhetysu region with a 39-percent increase.
Furthermore, the growth in housing development is also observed in rural areas. From January through June 2023, over 1.6 million square meters of residential buildings were completed in the villages of Kazakhstan, representing a significant 10.7 percent increase compared to the same period in 2022.
