ASTANA, Kazakhstan, August 1. Kazatomprom JSC, Kazakhstan's national operator for the import and export of uranium and other rare materials, produced 10,225 tons of uranium in the first half of this year, Trend reports.

According to the company, this figure is 2 percent more compared to the same period of the previous year, when uranium production reached 10,070 tons. For now, Kazatomprom maintains its current level of annual production expectations for 2023.

Meanwhile, the uranium sales volume of the company also recorded a substantial increase. From January through June 2023, Kazatomprom sold 9,527 tons of uranium, which is 6 percent more compared to the same period last year (9,017 tons).

Given the increased sales volume, Kazatomprom made some amendments to its planned sales volume for this year. Thus, the company hopes to sell 17,500–18,000 tons of uranium this year, while previously, these figures stood at 15,400–15,900 tons.

Kazatomprom National Atomic Company is the world’s largest producer and seller of natural uranium. Kazatomprom's uranium is used for the generation of nuclear power around the world.
