ASTANA, Kazakhstan, August 14. The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Alikhan Smailov, surveyed the progress of construction of the combined heat and power plant number 3 (CHP-3) and two gas-fired thermal power plants, Turan and Yugo-Vostok, in Astana, Trend reports.

The work on the CHP-3 project has already been completed by 90 percent. A phased launch of all four gas boilers is planned, which will give the capital a capacity increase of 440 Gcal/h this year.

In addition, the representative of the Central-Asian Electric Power Corporation (CAEPCO), Sergey Kan, acquainted the prime minister with the current progress of construction, commissioning, and the resolution of current technical issues.

Alikhan Smailov stressed that the implementation of this project has significant social significance and is under the supervision of the head of state.

"It is very important that in the upcoming heating season we will be able to provide the city with additional heat. The head of a local government in Kazakhstan needs to take all necessary measures for the timely launch of the facility," he said.

Moreover, the prime minister visited the Turan gas heating station, which will provide an additional volume of heat supply to the capital in the amount of approximately 350 Gcal/h. It was noted that the project has been provided with the necessary funding and that the work is proceeding according to schedule.

The government delegation also inspected the construction of the Yugo-Vostok gas heating station with a capacity of 350 gallons per hour, which will supply the left-bank district.

"The construction is going according to plan. We will monitor its progress and the fulfillment of deadlines, as it is extremely important for Astana residents during the winter period," said the minister.

In general, new gas thermal power plants have the advantage of using small boilers, allowing for more efficient use of natural gas. They are also designed to work with diesel fuel.

"We now have two gas boilers, and a new thermal power plant is being launched. This will give the city about 1,100 gallons per hour of heat already in the upcoming heating season, a plan executed with a surplus. It is also planned to implement additional gas boilers next year to ensure a stable heat supply to the capital in the future," said the minister.
