ASTANA, Kazakhstan, August 19. The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) has directed investments in Kazakhstan's projects for $902 million for the first 8 months of 2023, said Nikolay Podguzov, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Development Bank, during the meeting with Alibek Kuantyrov, Kazakhstan's Minister of National Economy, Trend reports.
The bank allocates funds on a non-repayable basis for the development of individual new projects. The EDB is also interested in expanding its activities in Kazakhstan, Podguzov noted.
The meeting covered topics related to bilateral collaboration, including potential methods for starting new initiatives. The national economy minister of Kazakhstan, Kuantyrov, lauded the outcomes of the bank's work there and stressed the efficient execution of significant projects within the scope of collaboration.
Following the discussion, the parties decided to continue their active cooperation on all crucial matters.
Now the share of Kazakhstan's projects is 57 percent of the total portfolio of projects implemented by the EDB. During the period of the Bank's cooperation with Kazakhstan, 104 projects have been successfully implemented, including the construction of the Sary-Arka gas pipeline, modernization and expansion of Almaty International Airport, development of the Big Almaty Ring Road, creation of the Nur Zholy road crossing point, as well as projects for the construction of solar and wind power plants.
